Recently, the first trial run of Elkem Xinghuo Silicones’s MS resin products has been successful, marking that the company joins Wacker and Momentive to become China’s first manufacturer with independent intellectual property rights to produce MS resin products. While filling in the domestic gap, Elkem Xinghuo Silicones’s MS resin has demonstrated its leading image in the industry, further consolidated its dominant position in the construction field, and laid a solid foundation for expanding new fields such as industrial adhesives.

MS resin, also known as silane modified polyether resin, is an important base material for preparing MS sealant, accounting for more than 80% of the cost of making the sealant. As foreign MS resin synthesis technology has been relatively mature, the market share of MS glue in Europe, America, and Japan has reached more than 30%. Especially in Japan, the market share of MS glue has amounted to more than 50%, which exceeds the sum of silicone glue and polyurethane glue. In recent years, it has maintained an upward trend. In China, the market share of MS glue is only 2%. The main reason is that China is relatively weak in the fields of MS resin synthesis, sealant preparation, and research of engineering application technology. Especially in the field of MS resin synthesis, most of the MS resins currently used in China are imported. In this context, the Elkem Xinghuo Silicone’s MS resin project has been launched.

Elkem Xinghuo Silicone is to first introduce three brands of MS resin products with high, medium, and low moduli and different activities, which can enable MS sealant to have different strength and elongation at break. Free of isocyanate, the products can be stored stably and are featured by environmental protection and low VOC. The building and industrial assembly sealant prepared by the three products has the advantages of both silicone sealants and polyurethane sealant and has the advantages of excellent weather resistance, durability, high deformation resistance, good cohesiveness, coating property, environmental friendliness, stress relaxation, low pollution, and excellent operability. In addition to the building industry, they can also be widely used in industrial fields, such as automobile manufacturing, rail transportation, container manufacturing, equipment manufacturing, and electronics and electricity.
