Frank Ning attended the First APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Meeting for 2022 via video link from Beijing, which was held in Singapore from Feb. 16 to 18.
Over 110 ABAC representatives, designated representatives and retinues from 21 economies in the Asia-Pacific region had joined the meeting.
Frank Ning, Chairman of the ABAC Sustainable Development Working Group, attended the opening ceremony of the meeting on Feb. 16 and introduced the Group's work scheme for 2022.
On the same day, Frank Ning attended a plenary session of a dialogue between ABAC representatives and APEC senior officials, and chaired a symposium on sustainable development.
The plenary session discussed how governments and enterprises should be better encouraged to include sustainable development goals in their policies, plans and practice, and how the promotion of renewable energy can be accelerated and energy intensity reduced.
On the next day, Frank Ning chaired a meeting of the ABAC Sustainable Development Working Group, during which he delivered a proposal on the promotion of sustainable and low-carbon transition of high-energy consuming enterprises. The meeting deliberated on and approved five proposals on responding to climate change, promotion of renewable energy and building a sustainable food system.
On Feb. 18, Frank Ning joined the closing ceremony of the First ABAC Meeting for 2022 and shared the outcomes of the meeting of the Sustainable Development Working Group.
He said the First ABAC Meeting for 2022 achieved fruitful results. Five proposals and two reports were deliberated on and unanimously approved, which has laid a solid foundation for the organization's work in 2022, he said.
The Sustainable Development Working Group would continue improving its work scheme for 2022 after the meeting and encourage representatives from different economies to raise more practical proposals and suggestions, Frank Ning noted.
