Syngenta Group China’s Microbial Fertilizer Sales Exceed 500,000 Tons

Syngenta Group China 2023-02-03

In 2022, Syngenta Group China’s cumulative annual sales of microbial fertilizers exceeded 500,000 tons, seeing a year-on-year increase of 72%, which builds up its position as an industry leader in the field of microbial fertilizers.

Microbial fertilizers are products containing specific living microorganisms, which can increase the supply of plant nutrients or promote plant growth, rise yield, improve the quality of agricultural products and the agricultural ecological environment, which are of great significance to ensuring food security and protecting soil health. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has listed “biological fertilizer” as an important task for making breakthroughs in agricultural science and technology, and advocates the research and promotion of agricultural biological products. At present, the total number of microbial fertilizer enterprises in China reaches more than 3,000, with an annual output of about 30 million tons.

Relying on the national scientific research platform, Syngenta Group China leverages microbial agents as the carrier to unleash the interaction effect between “biological fertilizer - soil health - nutrient efficiency”, forming five series of products including agricultural microbial agents, bio-organic fertilizers, bio-compound fertilizers, bio-organic-inorganic fertilizers, and microbial soil amendments. In recent years, tests conducted in 15 provinces, over 300 field, and covering 18 kinds of crops have shown that the microbial fertilizer products developed and promoted by the company can increase the yield of crops by more than 7% compared with equivalent nutrient fertilizer products. The effects of disease resistance, quality improvement and stress resistance are prominent, soil biodiversity has been greatly improved, fertilizer reduction and efficiency have been significantly enhanced, carbon emissions have been reduced, and the pressure on the environment caused by traditional fertilizers has been effectively alleviated.
